Safford High School Bigs Program
Student-led mentoring that builds leadership and connection in Graham County.
Building Leaders. Strengthening Young Students.
This one-to-one mentoring program builds meaningful relationships between students (“Mentors”) at Safford High School and elementary students (“Mentees”) at Lafe Nelson and Pima Elementary School.
As role models, high school Mentors develop their voices as community leaders and advocates. Mentors participate in monthly leadership training with their teachers and guide elementary students through bi-weekly sessions focused on academic growth, emotional development, social skills, and self-awareness.
Elementary students look up to their high school Mentors and value the time they spend learning and growing together.
